Safrul Muluk from Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Teaching and Teacher Training, State Islamic University (UIN) Ar-Raniry, Banda Aceh, Indonesia, said that somehow students who taking part time job effect towards the students’ academic performance. Many researchers found out that there is a detrimental effect on student’s achievement if they work over 15 hours a week. There are few effects which are students have lower grades, do less assignment and more likely to drop out. Those students who doing part time job mostly suffer with the negative consequences. These finding are supported by a Toronto study (Cheng, 1995), showing that students working more than 20 hours had a 16% dropout rate, and those who worked longer than 20 hours has even bigger dropout rate of 33%.
