The Constitution divides the national government into three branches Judicial, Executive and Legislative. The Judicial branch consists of the Supreme Court, is responsible for interpreting the meaning of laws, applying laws to cases and decides if laws violate the Constitution. According to Article III, section one and two of the constitution, “The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court”, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish and the power of the judicial shall be extended to all law equity cases. Art III. Sect. 1 2 In the Executive branch, they carry out and enforces laws which includes the president, vice president, the Cabinet, executive departments, independent agencies, and other boards, commissions, and committees. Since the powers are equally divided between the three branches to make sure no branch has too much power, the Constitution sets regulations to keep power equally divided within a government. With the use of separation of powers, citizens elect people to represent them.
